This Associated Press story reports on the success of a small wildcatter firm, Wolverine Gas & Oil, in finding petroleum in central Utah. Wolverine bought a bunch of old data and leasing rights from Chevron and looked more carefully at the Navajo Sandstone. Two wells began producing crude that arises from source rocks of Carboniferous age. The new Covenant field has aroused wide industry interest in the central Rocky Mountain thrust belt.
